Sanergy is to unveil its newest product - Intelligent Solar Street Lights

Sanergy PVT limited is a Sri Lankan technology company focusing on renewable energy solutions. Having started its operations in 2005, company has many innovations in its bag. One of its flagship product is a solar operated Aircraft Warning Lamps and recently the company announced a new generation of Solar Street light which grabbing market attention.

Companies Technical Director in innovations Mr. Vithanage said “our product is unique because we use computing technology to manage the product”, speaking more he said the light is using solid state lighting technology controlled by a microprocessor based system. This unit is managed by software and is 100% designed and developed in Sri Lanka. Conventional Solar based street lights are not capable of energy management and uses standard energy capture and release mechanisms, where as our lamps are not only energy efficient they manage the captured energy to optimize the energy loss as well. In the tropical climates, area of a square meter will receive approximate 3000 kCal per day but the current technologies can only capture 15% of it, so we need to manage this capture this energy efficiently to achieve our goals.

Further he mentioned these Lights are not only innovative, but they are intelligent as well, explaining it he mentioned street lights generally serve an effective time interval of 4-5 hours a day where there is heavy traffic and then can be dimmed to a half intensity on low traffic environments. Our lamps are software controlled and we can achieve this easily where as conventional technologies cannot do this. Not only that our next generation lamps which are in our research labs are more intelligent and can talk to each other and even light up at full brightness detecting vehicular traffic and can even inform it’s neighboring lamps to increase the intensity for smooth lighting for traffic (this technique is branded as ”light wave”). There are lot more in our bag and we will disclose these in the near future.

Company is already negotiating with some foreign parties for expanding its market presence as the local market is not very receptive to the idea due to higher initial investment. Speaking to us Chairman Mr. Wasantha K Weerakoone said “We have a great product which tells that Asia also can innovate, however our market seems not ready yet” , speaking further he said “we have shown our product in last three Innovation exhibitions but no one has grabbed the attention yet”.

Further he said company is now investing in to a complete green village in Matale where all the power will be derived from the Sun or Wind and they are building a eco resort that will also serve Food grown without any artificial fertilizer. The project construction is on the way and will be ready by next January. Further he mentioned, this place will be a complete unwinding experience from the busy lives of city and would make you re energize by getting very closer to the nature while the not disturbing the natural balance of our eco system.
